Maxsamus Wilson 6’4″ Guard – 2023 – Hopkins High School – Q&A

The year of Growth!

 

 

 

 In todays article we will  take a closer in depth look at what makes Maxsamus Wilson the 6’4″ Guard a special talent.  This season Max is attending Hopkins High School and will be playing for Hall of Fame Coach Ken Novak the 6 time state tournament champion.   Last season as a freshman Max avg. 12 ppg for South St. Paul.

Max is a top five prospect in the class of 2023 in Minnesota and is one of the top guards regionally and nationally.  Max is coming off a great fall and opened many eyes with his performance at the Pango’s Midwest Camp held in Chicago.  At 6’4″ he has a great feel for the game and loves to pass and make others around him better.  He has a great skill set that transfers well at the next level and we will see his stock rise over the next 6 to 8 months as the class of 2023 comes more into focus.  He is currently getting interest and is on many D1 Coaches radar.

1. Q. Full Name: and what Nickname or Name do you like to go by?

A.   Maxsamus Wilson Nickname: Max

 

2.  Q. What are you most looking forward to this season? 

A. Winning ! Playing against the best competition in the state and listening and learning from people who are and have been where I wanna be one day.
3.  Q. Who inspired you as a young athlete?
A. I just always loved the game and was blessed with skills to play . I was inspired by Alotta different players people young and older . Paul George and Damion lilliard inspired me 💪🏾
4.  Q. What one word describes you?
A. Passionate
5.  Q. What do you give up to play sports?
A. I give up family time because I’m always somewhere working out practicing or competing.
6. Q. What is your favorite place to compete?
A. Anywhere
7. Q.  Do you think attitude is a factor in winning?
A.  Yes
8.  Q. How does being an athlete inspire you to do good?
A. Because as an athlete you know that being a good person on and off the court goes along way with people being respectful being coachable just being accountable all of those things count on and off the court.
9. How does athletics make you a better student or teammate?
Bottom line is the same things you use to get better and do your best on da court or the same things that help you to excel in da classroom and with your teammates. I love being a leader and seeing my teammates happy having fun enjoying the game so that’s easy.
10. Whats the best part of your game?
I feel like my all around game my ability to do it all is a gift .But The Best part I believe is my IQ.
11. What would like to improve on as a player?
My defense I wanna be as good on defense as I am offensively so I’m working hard on that
12. What schools are currently recruiting or showing interest in you?
A.  Baylor,  San Diego State, St.Thomas, Utah State, Illinois State, Drake, Iowa State,  Nebraska, Minnesota, Vanderbilt , that’s all that I can remember right now. 🙏🏾
13.  Q. Being a young Student Athlete in this state of Minnesota, Do you feel pressure to be perfect?
A.  Nope I’ve been playing since forever. I’ve been blessed to play up against older Great competition around the country and in state . I’ve never felt pressure to be honest I just play it always feels natural
14. Q.  What would you like College Coaches to know about you?
A.  That I love the game that I’m team first that I give my all I love listening and learning I love having the ball getting my teammates and fans involved. High iq and I take pride in my ability to do it all whatever it takes to win. And always play the game fundamentally fun.
