Hot College Prospects:

2022 Guards/Combo Guards – National Stock Risers

In this article we take a look at four hot college prospects from the state of Minnesota that are stock risers nationally and players to get to know.  This list of guards have been making a wave and College Coaches have been taking notice of the work and the skill of these guards.  We feature two guards that play for Minnesota Preparatory Academy that play elite level competition in the Grind Session and two guards that play in one of the toughest conferences in the state of Minnesota in the Northwest Suburban conference.  The Minnesota landscape of the class of 2022 is currently the best we have ever seen in the state of Minnesota with the level of talent that exists in this state.

Gob Gob | 6’3” PG – 2022 – Minnesota Prep Academy

College Offers & Interest: Gob has received interest from Wichita State, UTSA, and Ball State

Gob is a gritty go get the job done type of PG who hails from Manchester, NH, shows resilience and patience setting up teammates and able to create his own shots off the dribble finishing with both hands.  In the game vs Phoenix Prep he definitely showed as a Junior he has what it takes to run an offense and make sound decisions as the floor general.  I was impressed with the space he’s able to create,  his change of pace with defenders on him is a work of art.

Gob is also a really good defender with his long frame, his hands are always in the passing lane for deflections, he really has a nose for the ball and plays defense at a high level never backing down.  As he continues to improve in the area of becoming a more consistent 3point shooter and more of a vocal leadership on the floor his team will only get better and better, against Phoenix Prep he did a great job being vocal and showing that leadership.

Brenden Moss  | 6’4″ –  2022 – Minnesota Prep Academy

College Interest: University of San Diego

Brenden really put on a show vs Phoenix Prep a few weekends ago including knocking down the game winner in overtime of the game.  His great play has since carried over into additional games and has been scoring the ball really well for Minnesota Prep.  Brenden is one of the top outside shooters and he attacks the basket with authority.  Being a dual threat on offense really makes the defense have to work for every stop.  Brenden is the leading scorer for Minnesota Prep on most nights and rightfully so.

Brenden is another kid that shoots and it looks to be a bucket every time.  If we thought the class of 2022 was talented before, it is even more talented now, you add Brenden Moss who is originally from Rockford, IL, Gob Gob, and DJ Jefferson to the mix, its one of the most talented 2022 classes in the country with a huge uptick in Major D1-D2 college offers.

Areas of Improvement for Moss as the season goes on will be creating for others & shot selection will open up his game and make his team even stronger for the Grind Session playoff run.  Brenden has an offer from University of San Diego and we can expect that to grow as the season progresses.

Tyirece Waits | 6’1” PG 2022  – Osseo High School

College Interest: Winona State, UALR- California State Eastbay

Tyirece Waits is a 6’1” Point Guard that stepped into a starting role last season as a sophomore for the Osseo Orioles and played big minutes for Osseo.  He handled the ball alot for the Orioles and we expect that will be no different this upcoming season.  Tyirece and the young Orioles look ready to make a jump in the rankings this season with a healthy looking team.  You can see the maturity in Waits’ game from the hard work this summer.  He is more athletic with his finishes at the rim and he is more explosive with dunks.  His leadership and play making ability to find shooters will set this team up for success and a deep run this season.  Waits has caught the attention of College Coaches at the mid major D1 and D2 levels.  He is just scratching the surface of where he will be in the coming months as he continues to add skills to the area of improvements.  Adding the ability to knock down the mid range and threes consistently, will grow his stock and push Osseo to another level.  Keep an eye out for this scrappy defender as the season progresses.

Braeden Carrington | 6’4” SG – Park Center High School – 2022

College Interest: University of Florida, Missouri

Braeden the highly skilled SG from Park Center is one of the purest shooters in the game. Braeden is still growing and has added mass to his build.   Playing on the Sizzle top 16u team, it’s hard to stand out but not Braeden, if he is not making the bucket well then he is probably making the assist for the basket or coming up with the steal to get a basket.  He is the type of shooter that you can’t give space to at all.  That’s how deadly his shot is.

Braeden has some big shoes to fill with Park Center after losing a few big names from the program, but he will have no issue doing just that.  Braeden has offers from D1 schools such as Florida and had a visit with Minnesota and more.  Competing in the Northwest Suburban Conference is not an easy task but Braeden is ready for the challenge.
