Donavan Smith of Minnehaha has National Break through on ESPN!

Donavan Smith 5’9” – 2022 – SG Minnehaha Academy/Grassroots Sizzle

New College Interest and Offers: South Alabama, St. Thomas, Western Illinois and Drake

When you talk about having a break through moment on the biggest stage,  you have to look no further then Donavan Smith of Minnehaha Academy/Grassroots Sizzle.  Smith put on one of the best shooting performances we have seen nationally by a smaller guard in a long time against Emoni Bates and Ypsi Prep on ESPN.  Bates will no doubtly be a future lottery to #1 NBA draft pick.   The nation found out quick that Donavan is one of the top shooters in the country and is another talented high level prospect in the class of 2022 from the state of Minnesota. However he is much more than just a scorer.  His on ball defense is spectacular, the way he moves his feet to stay in front of defenders. He runs the offense like a veteran PG, and he is magic in transition especially with the ball in his hands.  Smith showed that he can score the ball at a very High level with his 24 point performance on ESPN in the GIECO Top Flight Invite.

As he prepares for another state tournament run during the High School season, many teams will have to face Donavan’s quick first step as he blows past defenders in a blink of an eye and always seems to make the right decision with the ball. There is some big shoes to fill this High School season with Jalen Suggs moving on to Gonzaga, however Minnehaha has some superior talent returning with the likes of Chet Holmgren the #1 ranked player in the country future NBA Pro and Prince Aligbe returning for his Junior year.  I have no doubt Donavan will shine for Minnehaha this High School Season as he brings a unique style to the High School game.  His stock as a lead guard will continue to rise this season.
